I give to organizations doing work I think actually matters. Not a lot, not everywhere — a running, honest list of where.
Oceana is the largest international organization focused solely on ocean conservation — campaigning against overfishing, bycatch, and offshore drilling, and winning real policy changes in the countries that control the most coastline and the most fish. They're celebrating their 25th anniversary this year, and it's a track record worth backing: this is one of the few advocacy groups that measures itself by the fish actually left in the water, not just the emails sent about them.
